Question
Dear doctor, i have had PCOS for over one year and
three months , its been two month now from the time i went to the doctor
and was given Duphaston and metformin and during the courseof taking
that medicine i recieved my periods regulary but within those two months
of taking the drug ...i have now waited this month for the periods but
all in vain...Please Doctor i need you to help!?what can i do to get my
periods back ..am longing to have a baby?
|
|
|
Answer: PCO is associated with irregular periods and infrequent
ovulation. If you have still not got a period, take duphaston- one tablet
twice a day for 5 days to get a period. Have your blood checked on the
second day of the period for FSH and LH. Let me know the results, so I
can advice you accordingly. If you are in Oman and wish to see me , you
can take an appointment on 24563181 and we can try to help you conceive. |

Question
Hi Dr. Im 27 yrs old & weigh 82 kgs.Me and my
husband consulted a Gynocologists last month to understand the chances
of getting pregnant. And understood i have minor issues with PCO's.
Hence, im under medication having metaphase twice a day and folic acid
tabs regularly. She has given the dates of our intercourse and also
advised to have duphastone during the last week.We had been following
the same. My last periods started on 14th sep and lasted about 4-5 days.
Now i started feeling week/tired and back pain. I also feel like
boalting stomach or sometime cramps. Not tested anything yet. Is it a
good sign, am i pregnant? or what are the chances of being pregnant.
Please need your support and assitance. Thnk you..
|
|
|
Answer: You must have done a urine test by now to determine
whether you are pregnant or not. In case you are not, I suggest you do a
scan on day 12 of the period to determine whether you are ovulating or
not and what is your fertile period. If you are not ovulating, you would
need to take clomid tablet during the next cycle. I presume your
husband's semen and your fallopian tubes are normal. All the best ! |

Question
Doctor I am 33 years old and I have PCO syndrome.
I can not conceive.I was pregnante this year april but infortunatly had
a miscarage after one month. I have irregular menses too. COULD this be
infertile problem and/or onovulation problem? I consolte a doctor and he
told me to take clomid in additoin to progynova, could this help me
solving my problems? If not please help me
|
|
|
Answer: You have conceived before, so I am sure you will conceive
again, so stop worrying ! PCO is associated with irregular periods and
infrequent ovulation. Are you taking clomid and progynova during the
dame cycle? Have a scan done on day 12 of the period to determine
whether you are ovulating or not and what is your fertile period. If you
are not ovulating, you would need to increase the dose of clomid tablets
during the next cycle. Let me know the results, so I can advice you
further. |

Question
Hello doctor, I removed my left ovary 10 years
back coz of chocolate cyst and my right ovary is functioning good for
all these years after my marriage for two years i didnt conceive so i
went to doctor and she adviced metformin for pcos my periods are regular
now and she gave siphene tab and she gave lupi hcg 10000 injection for
the follicle to rupture it didnt rupture even after 18th day and it
remains in the ovary she now prescribed ovral G for it, can i conceive i
am very much depressed coz of these we are trying for baby, what could
be the reason for the follicle not rupturing and am very much in need of
your advice Plz help
|
|
|
Answer: You have probably formed a cyst and that is why ovral G
has been given. What was the size of the follicle when the injection was
given ? During the next cycle the injection should be given when the
follicle is 20 mm. Repeat the scan 4 days after the injection. If still
the follicle is seen , do a serum progesterone test ( blood test ) to
determine whether you ovulated or not. Sometimes a corpus luteum cyst is
formed which looks similar to an unruptured follicle. Let me know the
results, so I can advice you further/. All the best ! |

Question
Hello Doctor, My self Vikas. My wife monika and I
are married for about 2 years now. Our Doctor last month did IUI on my
wife and keep her on Endogest 200 mg. My wife's period due date was 3rd
Oct and she missed that we did pregnancy test and that was also
negative. What is the reason and should we continue with endogest 200?
Please suggest. Thanks
|
|
|
Answer: One would not get a period while on the endogest . If the
pregnancy test has been done 15 days after the IUI and is negative, one
can stop the endogest. All the best ! |

Question
I am taking agystin to regulate my periods and i
am wanting to take clomid without a drs presprition, could i still have
a chance of getting pregnant
|
|
|
Answer: Aygestin is not safe during pregnancy, so you should not
use it if you wish to conceive. Once you ovulate, you would get regular
periods, so you would not require aygestin during that cycle. Clomid
should always be used when ultrasound monitoring is available. An
ultrasound should be done on day 11 of the cycle to ensure that the
follicle is growing well and what would be your fertile period. Also, it
would determine that the ovaries are not getting unduly enlarged. So,
even if you get clomid without a prescription, monitoring is essential. |

Question
Hello DR. My wife is 27 yrs. we have been married
since 1 year.abt 9 months back she had miscarriage (at 5th week of
pregnancy) and docter said it was due to some infection. Now she is
carrying and is in her 7th week of pregnancy.now she is feeling slight
pain in her lower abdomal area whole day.we consulted a docter and she
has advised to go for ecosprin 75 mg for 30 days along with sustain and
folinine. pls advice me is it OK. and also clarify is abdonal pain ok
during early pregnancy
|
|
|
Answer: All the medicines are fine. Does she have a fibroid in
the uterus ? That could give contractions and abdominal pain. Also,
check the urine for infection. Constipation can also cause pain. If the
pain increases, consult your doctor asyour wife might require some other

Question
hi doctor, i hope you remember me, salima from
london, i got pregnant with IUI in your clinic in oman, i have called
you to inform you that it was positive and you suggest me to take 3
duphaston a day along with one jusprin81 and elvit.... i am now about 10
weeks and the bleeding is on and off not as much as begining, so i would
like to know if i should carry on with duphaston as the doctor here in
london asked me to stop it since it discontinued here in uk. please
waiting for your reply ASAP and will appreciate any other help and
assistance by email. million thanks doctor
|
|
|
Answer: Salima, please phone me and let me know your card number
of our clinic. In case you have lost the number- it is 24563181. Glad to
know that the pregnancy is growing well. However, since you are bleeding
still, continue the duphaston and increase the dose. If you are taking 2
a day, take 3 now. This mail goes to the omanaccess website and is then
sent to me and then i send the answers to the omanaccess website, so
there will be a delay in receiving the answers. The appointment card of
the clinic has the clinic e mail , so you can write to me on that.
However, the fastest communication would be by phone. All the best! let
me know the result of your scan by e mail to the clinic e mail. |

Question
Dear Dr. Oman, My wife is at 6weeks6days
pregnancy. She has 2 heavy verginal bleedings so far. The 1st one was a
clump of the thumb size at 5weeks5days. It happened on the next day
after she came back from the ER due to her nausiatated symptoms that the
MD has given her a shot to ease it. We went to the OBGYN 2 days after
the 1st bleeding, and the sonagram showed some strong 112 heart beats. 2
days after coming back from the OBGYN, the 2nd one happened. It was
spottings stains of red bleeding(2 fingers size) and followed by some
brown color blood. Dear doctor, is my wife going to have miscarriage?
What kind of food would you suggest to her, because her nausia and
vomiting sypmtoms are coming back? Please advise. Thanks a million. T
(USA)
|
|
|
Answer: She should eat dry food like crackers and toast every 2-3
hours to cut down on the nausea. Also, if any antacid like maalox or
gelucil is available over the counter, she can take that as it is safe .
She should take rest and ensure that she is not constipated , to reduce
the chances of bleeding. Do let me know the results of the next scan.
All the best ! |

Question
I am 42 and at an early scan (7wk 5dys) after a
little spotting that turned to a brown discharge, I was told that the
heartbeat was faint and that I could be starting to miscarry. (This was
my first attempt at ICSI IVF) Once I got home i started red spotting
followed by what seemed to be a normal period. This morning I passed
what can only be described as a very small jelly egg followed by
another, bigger one the size of my fingernail. I have not had any tissue
pass through and still don't know if I have had a full miscarriage. I
have a scan booked for next wednesday so it is just a waiting game. I
don' really know what to expect, help!
|
|
|
Answer: Your questions go to the omanaccess website and are then
sent to me and the answers are sent back by me to that website. So, your
question cannot be answered immediately. By now, you must have done
another scan to determine how your baby is. Hope everything is fine !
You must not overexert yourself and if you have bleeding again, consult
your doctor who may give you certain medication to stop the bleeding.

Question
Hi Dr, i had a chemical abortion on the 1st
Sept(feotus was 6wk, 4days). i havent had my menses at of the time of
writing even though iv tested negative to 2pregnancy test. is everything
ok with me, tks
|
|
|
Answer: There maybe a delay in the first period after an
abortion. If you still have not got a period, you can take duphaston
tablets - one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period. |
|
|
|
Question
I've always been regular 5.5 days on my cycle. Six
in a half years ago, I got a tubal. This past period I had dark red or
brown on my tampon and it was extremely light compared to my normal. It
lasted from 9-24 to 10-2. What is it my period or implantation bleeding
or what? Can I even get pregnant now. It would be a fatal, bad thing if
I could. Thanks for your help. Morgan
|
|
|
Answer: By which method was the tubal sterilisation done ? There
can be a failure with any procedure . First of all, do a pregnancy test.
If negative, have an ultrasound done to determine the cause of this
light period. An ovarian cyst maybe the cause. If the next period is
also scanty, have your thyroid hormones checked, as an abnormality in
these can also cause scanty periods. |

cone bioposy in two weeks from now. The problem that we have is that she
has missed her normal period on the 1st of this month. we are worried
now because, we now she shouldnt get pregnant and if we tell the doctor
he may cancel the surgery. The surgery is for suspected cervical cancer.
what do you think we should do?
|
|
|
Answer: By now you must be knowing whether she is pregnant or
not. This mail goes to the omanaccess website and is then sent to me and
then I send the answers to the omanaccess website, so there will be a

Question
If a put a loop in will a not get pregnant again.
becouse a dont want babies soon again.
|
|
|
Answer: The loop has a failure rate of 3-4 % , so you can get
pregnant with that. The most reliable contraception is the pill . Check
with your doctor if you can use it and use the mildest one like Yasmin
or Gracial , so that you do not have many side effects. |

Question
Hello Doctor, I have been diagonised with a small
chocolate cyst(34*30mm) in right ovary and a simple cyst (45*60mm) in
left ovary. I have been taking Dronis-20 tablets since 3 months and now
the simple cyst in my left ovary is not present. I still have a
chocolate cyst measuring 30*32mm in the right ovary. I'm adviced to
continue Dronis-20 tablets for 2 more months. Please let me know if this
chocolate cyst is curable. And also please let me know if this is a
serious issue. Thanks in Advance.
|
|
|
Answer: Chocolate cysts or endometriosis tend to recur. I would
advise you to take the dronis tablets for 2 months and then see whether
the size of the cyst has reduced or not. If not, you can take zoladex or
decapeptyl injection once in every 4 weeks for 3 cycles. let me know the
result of the scan after 2 months, so I can advice you further. The cyst
is not a serious problem. However, sometimes there can be torsion of the
ovary or rupture of the cyst, which would then require immediate
surgery. |

Question
For over a month now I noticed my left nipple has
been infected. It is a small area towards the bottom thats red and seems
to fill up with puss. I squeezed it and the puss came out a few weeks
ago, but it still seems to be infected. I still have a red mark and if I
touch it at all small amounts of puss come out. I have been putting
alcohal on it twice a day hoping it wout go away but so far it hasnt.
What do I do?
|
|
|
Answer: You need to see a doctor who can determine that there is
no mass within the breast. Also, this might need antibiotics, so that
can be prescribed. |

Question
Hello Doctor, 22nd august i got my periods. 27th i
took an i pill and on 29th and 20th i got i little bleeding which
stopped on its own(side effects of i pill).its 4th october and i still
havent got my periods. I took two urine pregnancy tests yesterday n
today and both were negative. Why is this delay? and also i am goin for
a trek on the 13th of october and i dont want my periods at that time.
so can i take pause mf if it starts or what are the other options? thank
you so much doctor.
|
|
|
Answer: I am unable to answer questions immediately, as your mail
goes to the omanaccess website and is then sent to me and then I send
the answers to the omanaccess website, so there will be a delay in
receiving the answers.I don't think you should keep taking pills off and
on , as it would interfere with your natural cycles. If you do not wish
to conceive, take a pill like Yasmin , which is more reliable than the i
pill. Also, in future when you wish to delay a period, the Yasmin can be
continued accordingly. If you wish to start the Yasmin , see a gynec to
rule out any contra-indications that you may have. If you wish to see me
, you can take an appointment on 24563181. |

|
|
|
Answer: I could not understand from your question whether you
wish to conceive or not. If you do wish to conceive, have a scan done on
day 12 of the period to determine whether you are ovulating or not and
what is your fertile period. If you are not ovulating, you would need to
take clomid tablet during the next cycle. One would get a period within 5
to 10 days of stopping the duphaston. |

Question
HI doctor i m 31 year old n i m not married when i
was 14 year old i use to do heavey house chores like lift the heavey
furniture n etc but now i feel very uncomfertable i feel like pressure
on lower abb n some thing coming out from vegina and the chronic pain in
pelvic area and right whole leg can u guide me wat is that
|
|
|
Answer: Sorry to hear about your pain. Have an ultrasound done to
determine that your uterus and ovaries are normal. At the same time,
your gynec can check whether your uterus is coming out or your vaginal
muscles are loose. Certain exercises may help to prevent further
loosening. |

Question
I am 36 yrs old. I had a total hysterectomy at age
29 due to endometriosis and scar tissue which was very painful. I now

some insight on what could possibly be causing this. Thank you for your
time and thoughts on this matter.

Answer: If your ovaries have not been removed, have an ultrasound
done to ensure that your ovaries are normal and have not formed any
cysts. Also, a vaginal examination would reveal if you have any problems
in the vaginal giving rise to the pain. Do let me know the results, so I

Question
Hi! I need answer for my problem, I delay my
period for 29 July, and i period for 6days and after period i have
bleeding on 14th to 19th August after that another bleeding on 29 August
to 12th Sep. I go, see the doctor and say I am miscarriage and give me
primoult N, after use this tablets i bleeding for 4days. started from
28th Sep to 1st October. did you thinks that I am miscarriage?
|
|
|
Answer: A urine or blood test for pregnancy is the only way to
confirm whether you were pregnant or not. Sometimes, one can have this
sort of bleeding due to a miscarriage , but also due to other reasons.
If the problem recurs, have an ultrasound done to rule out the presence
of fibroids or an ovarian cyst. If that is normal, have your thyroid
hormones checked . Let me know the results, so I can advcie you further. |
